This is a genuine rifle from G. McMillan & Co. of Phoenix, Arizona, the precision-rifle operation founded by legendary rifle builder and competitive shooter Gale McMillan. These rifles occupy an important place in the development of modern American precision rifles, combining McMillan’s pioneering fiberglass-stock technology with custom actions, precision barrels and hand-fitted components.

Gale McMillan began developing fiberglass competition stocks in the early 1970s, and his company subsequently became one of the most influential names in precision, competition and military rifle development. G. McMillan & Co. later produced complete high-grade sporting, varmint and tactical rifles before evolving into Harris/McMillan Gunworks.

This example is chambered in the classic .22-250 Remington, one of the traditional high-velocity varmint cartridges and an especially appropriate chambering for a McMillan precision Varminter.

The rifle features a substantial 24-inch target-profile barrel, providing the heavy, stable configuration expected of a precision varmint rifle.
