The Model 158 Topper represents the straightforward, durable break-action shotgun design for which H&R became well known. These lightweight single-shot shotguns were produced in several gauges and became longtime favorites for field use, recreational shooting, and as simple utility shotguns.

This example is chambered in the increasingly desirable .410 bore, which generally carries somewhat stronger secondary-market demand than common 12- and 20-gauge versions of the same model.

The shotgun features a traditional exposed-hammer break-action design with wood stock and forearm, blued-steel barrel, and single-round capacity. Many .410 Model 158 examples were produced with approximately 28-inch barrels and 3-inch chambers, although the exact barrel and chamber markings should be verified on the individual firearm.

This shotgun is presented in good working condition. Normal cosmetic wear consistent with age and prior field use should be expected, including stock marks, thinning finish, scratches, light patina, or other evidence of honest use.
