Vintage J. Stevens Crack Shot single-shot .22 rimfire rifle in working condition. Classic American collector rifle inventory in Sarasota, Florida. Read more.
Classic J. Stevens Arms “Crack Shot” single-shot rimfire rifle, presented in working mechanical condition and representing an interesting example of an early American sporting and youth rifle.
The Stevens Crack Shot series was produced in several variations, including the well-known Model 16 and Model 26, and became popular as an affordable lightweight single-shot rifle during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Depending on the exact model, Crack Shot rifles use either a thumb-operated or lever-operated falling-block style action. The rifles were commonly chambered for traditional rimfire cartridges including .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle, depending on production configuration.
This example is represented as being in working condition. Given the age of these rifles, normal cosmetic wear should be expected, including thinning or loss of original bluing, patina, handling marks, stock wear, scratches, dents, or other evidence of many decades of use.
The rifle should be inspected for exact model designation, barrel markings, caliber, bore condition, stock originality, sights, firing mechanism, and remaining factory finish before a final collector grade is assigned.
Original and complete Crack Shot rifles remain appealing to collectors of early American single-shot rifles, Stevens firearms, vintage rimfires, and turn-of-the-century sporting arms.
