Desirable Remington Model 51 semi-automatic pistol chambered in .380 ACP, serial number PA44866, presented in great overall condition with only light original-finish wear and accompanied by one magazine.
Designed by legendary firearms inventor John D. Pedersen, the Remington Model 51 is one of the most mechanically distinctive American pocket pistols of the early 20th century. Rather than using a conventional straight-blowback system, the Model 51 employs Pedersen’s innovative hesitation-locked action, allowing the pistol to combine a relatively light slide with a slim and exceptionally streamlined profile.
Serial number PA44866 places this pistol within approximately late-1922 to early-1923 production. The “PA” serial prefix stands for Pedersen Automatic and is characteristic of standard Model 51 production.
This example is chambered in the more commonly encountered and desirable .380 ACP configuration. The pistol features its classic internal-hammer design, grip safety, manual safety, fixed sights, slender steel frame and distinctive early Remington styling.
The pistol is presented in great original condition, retaining strong overall finish with only light wear consistent with careful handling and age. One detachable magazine is included.
Original Model 51 pistols with strong finish, crisp markings and intact factory grips are increasingly attractive to collectors of early American semi-automatic pistols. The combination of the Pedersen-designed operating system, Remington manufacture and elegant period styling makes the Model 51 considerably more interesting than an ordinary early pocket automatic.
A very attractive example for the Remington collector or enthusiast seeking an original early-1920s American semi-automatic pistol with strong collector character.
