Vintage Volunteer Enterprises Commando Mark V semi-automatic carbine chambered in .45 ACP, presented in good working condition and accompanied by one detachable magazine.
Manufactured by Volunteer Enterprises, Inc., the Commando series was designed as a commercial semi-automatic carbine with styling strongly reminiscent of the classic Thompson submachine gun. Volunteer Enterprises operated in Knoxville, Tennessee and produced several versions of the Commando carbine during the latter half of the 20th century.
The Mark V is one of the later variations of the Volunteer Commando family and is chambered for the traditional .45 ACP cartridge. Typical Mark V rifles use an approximately 16-inch barrel, fixed shoulder stock, detachable box magazine and simple blowback-operated semi-automatic action.
This example is presented in good overall condition and includes one magazine. Normal handling marks, stock wear and finish wear consistent with age and previous use may be present.
Original Volunteer Enterprises Commando rifles have developed a niche collector following among enthusiasts of vintage American pistol-caliber carbines and Thompson-inspired commercial firearms. Their discontinued status and distinctive appearance give clean, complete examples more collector interest than many ordinary older pistol-caliber carbines.
A particularly interesting vintage .45 ACP carbine for the collector looking for something outside the more commonly encountered modern platforms.
