The Dangers of Cheap Ammo

The Dangers of Cheap Ammo

By: JK Comments: 0

Just like anything else, you get what you pay for when it comes to ammunition. The saying goes, "A gun is only as good as the ammo you feed it." This is because cheap or poor quality ammo can cause all sorts of problems, ranging from misfires to catastrophic failures. In this blog post, we'll discuss the dangers of using cheap ammo in your firearm. Stay safe out there!

First and foremost, cheap or poor quality ammo can be dangerous because it is more likely to misfire, double charge or cause a squib load. A Misfire is when the primer or cartridge fails to ignite the powder charge, which usually results in a "click" instead of a "bang." A Double Charge or the putting extra powder in the case will aggravate an already dangerous situation. Extra powder could create a dangerous situation where a gun blows up, as many guns don’t have a way to vent gas and some don’t have adequate locking lugs to handle the extra pressure. A Squib Load is a dangerous type of ammunition malfunction in which the fired bullet does not have enough force behind it to exit from its own barrel. This can cause another round be shot directly into it and Destroy the structural integrity or the firearm! At best, this will render your firearm useless until you can clear the jam. At worst, it could cause the barrel to rupture or explode, which could result in serious injury or death.

Cheap ammo is more likely to have catastrophic failures. This can cause serious damage to your firearm, and potentially injure or kill you if debris from the explosion is sent flying towards you.

Cheap ammunition might seem like a good deal at first glance, but it's simply not worth the risk. Cheap ammo is often made with subpar materials and produced in countries with lax safety regulations, reloaders, and unscrupulous dealers; this can lead to all sorts of problems, including misfires, hangfires, dangerous detonations, and more. Not to mention, cheap ammo is often less accurate than quality ammunition. So save yourself the hassle and only use quality ammo in your gun. Your wallet—and your life—will thank you for it!
